Why this exists

I decided to homeschool my son. Then I had to build the school.

It started with what my son was bringing home. Not the worksheets, the words. He was six years old, riding a bus with high schoolers, and he came home saying things a six-year-old has no business knowing. None of it came from his teachers. It came from everything around the classroom, from the culture kids teach each other when no adult is listening. Innocence doesn't survive that world by accident. Somebody has to guard it, and I decided that somebody was me.

"We cannot continue to send our children to Caesar for their education and be surprised when they come home as Romans."
— Voddie Baucham

When we pulled our son out of the system, I did what every new homeschool parent does: I went shopping for curriculum. I found $800 boxes that wanted to turn my kitchen into a public school, and piles of $5 worksheets with no plan behind them and no answers included. Neither one was the education I left the system to find.

So I started writing it myself, at our kitchen table in Priest River, Idaho. One subject at a time. Every morning my son and I ran the day's lesson, and every afternoon I fixed what didn't work. The parts that bored him got cut. The parts that lit him up got bigger. That went on for a year, until the stack of binders on our shelf was the school I'd been looking for all along.

Other families started asking what we were using, and there was nothing to point them to. It was just ours. So we gave it a name, polished every page, and put it here for any family ready to do what we did.

"Every lesson runs the same four steps: TEACH: read it aloud, it's fully scripted. TALK: the discussion questions are written for you. WORK: your child works alone. CHECK: the answer key's in your Teacher's Binder.

If you can read aloud, you can teach this."
The Schedule

The 2-hour homeschool schedule: focused beats long.

One-on-one time is dense. There are no lines to stand in, no waiting on 24 other kids, and no busywork to fill the clock. And the research is clear about what actually builds great kids at this age: chores, free play, outdoor time, other kids, family dinner, real sleep. So we schedule those too.

Field Challenges

"But what about socialization?"
We made it a school subject.

Twenty-five kids the same age in one room is not where courage gets built. Ordering your own food builds it. So does shaking a veteran's hand, or knocking on a neighbor's door to pitch a lawn-mowing job. Field Challenges turns every town trip into that kind of training, and each mission carries a rank for how independently your child completes it:

🐻 CUB: do it together 🐻🐻 BEAR: parent beside you 🐻🐻🐻 GRIZZLY: all by yourself

Every challenge gets your sign-off and date. Finish enough at Grizzly rank and the certificate at the back of the book is earned, never given.

Pricing

The whole school year.
Less than one day of daycare.

The average American family now hands over $1,200 a month to child care. That's a fifth of everything they earn, and one in five families pays more than $30,000 a year. Working more just to pay someone else to raise your kids is the trap. This complete homeschool curriculum costs $49. Once. That's less than a single day at the daycare center, and you keep the mornings, the money, and the kid.

$49 once. forever.

Questions

Homeschool curriculum questions, asked at every co-op.

I'm not a teacher. Can I really do this?

Every lesson is scripted in the same four steps: TEACH (read the lesson aloud; it's written out), TALK (discussion questions provided), WORK (your child works alone), CHECK (answer keys in the Teacher's Binder). If you can read aloud, you can teach this. That's the design requirement every page was built to meet.

Only 2 hours a day. Will my child fall behind?

A classroom hour includes lining up, waiting, transitions, and 24 other kids. Two focused one-on-one hours cover more ground. And what research ties most strongly to thriving kids at this age (chores, free play, outdoor time, family dinner, consistent sleep) happens in the afternoon this schedule protects.

Is it faith-based?

Yes, openly. Faith & Character is one of the ten subjects, and Scripture, virtue, and service run through the whole curriculum. Broadly Christian and non-denominational: Bible-centered, with no denominational doctrine. If you're looking for a secular program, we're honestly not your fit.

What ages is it for?

Built for Grades 1–2 (roughly ages 6–8), and it flexes: place by ability, not age. Levels 3–4 are next on our roadmap, and buyers hear first.

What do I need to print it?

Any home printer, paper, a three-hole punch, and binders (one per subject is the deluxe setup; a couple of fat binders with divider tabs works fine). US Letter. Black and white prints fine, though the covers look great in color.

Can I use it for all my kids?

Yes. The license covers your whole household, including re-printing workbook pages as many times as you need, every year, for every kid.

Is there a good homeschool curriculum near me?

Yes, wherever "near me" is. The Grizzly Academy is a printable digital curriculum, so the school is your kitchen table: buy once, download, and print at home anywhere in America. It pairs naturally with your local co-op, church group, or park day. The Field Challenges book even turns your own town into the classroom.

How much does a homeschool curriculum cost?

The big boxed programs run $500–$800 per school year, per child. The Grizzly Academy is $49, once: all 10 subjects, tests, and answer keys, with a household license that covers every child you have, every year, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Can our co-op or group share one copy?

We'd rather make it easy than make it awkward: the Co-op License covers up to 5 households for $129. Split five ways, that's about $26 per family for the complete 10-subject curriculum, and everyone prints legally from their own copy. Teaching a bigger group, microschool, or classroom? Email hello@thegrizzlyacademy.com and we'll build you a school license.

What if it's not right for us?

30 days, full refund, no forms. Just reply to your receipt email. If it doesn't serve your family, we don't want your money.
